Volunteers
Since 1850, Maine Township has served area residents in many ways. In fulfilling its original mission of providing general assistance, the Township often depends on the efforts of hundreds of selfless volunteers and the contributions of companies, schools, churches, and organizations.
We take this opportunity to thank and salute the many who supported Maine Township programs, events and activities over the years. Whether it was packing food for needy families, wrapping toys for underprivileged youth, the elderly or disabled, the devotion of our volunteers is heartwarming and tireless.
Those who benefited from the food, comfort, or simple good cheer may not be able to personally thank all those who contributed, but the help was nonetheless appreciated.
Helping others is often reward in itself, and the work and needs go on each year. If anything, the needs are greater due to the state of the economy, local job layoffs and cutbacks, and other factors. So, we continue to do our best to help those in our community who need our assistance.

Volunteer Recognition
At a celebration every year, Maine Township recognizes its well over one hundred volunteers at the Volunteer Appreciation Reception.Volunteer Clearinghouse
(G.I.F.T.S. - Giving Invites Friends to Share)The goal of this program is to spark volunteer interest in community agencies that help Township residents. Volunteer opportunities and social service agencies are highlighted in Mainely News, the Township's newsletter. Because funding to local agencies is limited, the Township hopes the additional assistance provided by volunteers will help increase the agencies' resources within the community.
