MaineStay Youth & Family Services and the Cook County Sheriff's Youth Services Department will host Safety Town on July 7, 2009 from 2-4 PM in the parking lot of 8800 W. Ballard Road in Des Plaines (about 1/2 block east of the Maine Township Town Hall).

This free event for youth ages 5-8 will teach children about bicycle and pedestrian safety in a fun and engaging manner! Children will enter a pretend "town" of child-sized buildings and pedal cars. Instructors will teach participants basic traffic safety, dangers of oncoming traffic, and road signs. Other topics include: street crossing, obeying traffic signs and signals, wearing bicycle helmets, and more!
