Maine Township's Office of Emergency Management is Recognized for its Service

May 5, 2010 — Maine Township's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is being recognized at the state and national level for its continuing efforts to serve residents in times of need. OEM Director, Bob Cohen, recently received accolades from the Office of Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps for Maine Township's volunteer efforts in administering H1N1 influenza vaccinations to residents of Cook County.

The award, given to about 40 Maine Township Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) members, came in the form of pins to be worn with pride by those who helped in the effort and each member received a thank you letter.

Illinois' 57 MRC units also acknowledged Director Cohen's commitment to protecting public health. Earlier this month, Cohen was elected co-chairman of Illinois' MRC. The position, with additional responsibilities beyond the Maine Township MRC's own, calls for Cohen to preside over the four scheduled meetings the Illinois MRC holds annually.
