Maine Township's popular annual Community Garage Sale will be held, rain or shine, Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 9 AM to 3 PM in the parking lot of Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Road, Park Ridge. Space reservations with payment will be accepted beginning August 15 until September 23, but spaces are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and will go fast.

Garage Sale
Ways to Get Involved
  • Reserve your space to sell your own garage sale items (fee is $20.00 for 8' x 16' space and table rentals are available for $10 additional)
  • Donate items for Maine Township to sell (from September 26-29 between the hours of 9-5 PM)
  • Send a check as a donation
  • Come and shop
To reserve a space you will need to fill out a registration form. Payment and registration are due by September 23. Reservation and donation checks should be made payable to "Maine Township." There are no refunds on spaces once purchased.

Donated merchandise will be sold by Township staff to help raise funds. Donations of the following are especially sought: small working electronics, children's games, children's furniture and accessories, garden tools, and small hand tools. Maine Township will not accept donations of clothes, large and/or heavy furniture, firearms, explosives, or any type of weapons.

Net proceeds from the event benefit the Adventure Maine Township Summer Camp and the Township's Emergency Food Pantry. The camp program, coordinated by the Township's MaineStay division, gives disadvantaged youth, ages 8 through 13, the opportunity to participate in cultural and recreational experiences to which they may not otherwise have access. The food pantry, a service of the General Assistance department, serves an average of over 200 families per month throughout the year and even more during holiday periods, but the demand never ends.

The event is sponsored by Journal & Topics Newspapers, Liberty Bank for Savings, Highway Commissioner Robert Provenzano, ARC Disposal, Chicagoland Senior News, Parkway Bank, and Park Ridge Taxi/Community Cab.

"This is a really fun event which raises money for two worthy causes—disadvantaged children and hungry families," says Township Supervisor Carol A. Teschky. "We encourage our Township residents to participate, to give financial support, or just come by to shop."
