Community Garage Sale & Craft Fair

Help support Maine Township's Adventure Summer Camp and Maine Township's Food Pantry by participating in our garage sale on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Maine Township Town Hall rain or shine. The event, sponsored by Maine Township, Journal & Topics Newspapers, and Liberty Bank for Savings will include the popular craft sale at the same time.

Garage Sale
Here is how you can help:
  • Reserve your space to sell your own garage sale items or craft items
  • Fee: $20.00 for 8 ft X 16 ft space only
  • Donate items for Maine Township to sell
  • Send a check as a donation to "Maine Township Adventure Camp" or "Maine Township Food Pantry"
  • Come and shop
To reserve a space fill out a registration form. For further information or to make a donation call Marie at 847-297-2510 x270. Payment and registration are due by September 23, 2008.

Donated merchandise will be sold by Township staff to help raise funds. Maine Township will not accept donations of clothes, large and/or heavy furniture, firearms, explosives or any type of weapons. Donations of the following are especially sought: small working electronics, children's games, children's furniture and accessories, garden tools and small hand tools.

"These are fun events to raise money for two worthy causes — disadvantaged children and hungry families," says Township Supervisor Carol A. Teschky. "We encourage our township residents to participate, to give financial support, or just come by to shop."

The Garage Sale proceeds will benefit the summer camp program coordinated by the township's MaineStay division. The camp program allows disadvantaged children, ages 8 through 13, to participate in cultural and recreational experiences to which they may not otherwise have access.

The Craft Fair proceeds will help buy food to stock the Emergency Food Pantry run by the township. The pantry serves an average of over 200 families per month throughout the year and even more during holiday periods.
